Second year of filming for Approach & Attack kicked off week ago in Niigata,Japan. Local mountain guide Takumi Nagai is our host during our stay here. With his help we have been able to scout some of the most promising locations we have ever seen in Japan. photo: Jani Karppa

Roadside zones near Muikamachi town have been surprsingly difficult to go ride. even thought the terrain is right next to road and still in treeline it is way bigger than in anyw

Roadside zones near Muikamachi town are probably the best ones I have ever seen in Japan. These road spots are no longer only mushrooms and pillows. You can even find spines in middle of trees. This photo was taken few days ago when we were scouting new lines. I hope the sun comes out soon so we can go ride the stuff we have found. photo: Jani Karppa

One the way down from location scouting I gave my new Drake powder board a test ride in the gates. It worked well but works even better in Pow!

Weather in Niigata changes rapidly almost everyday. Here is Takumi´s Car Danchi after one day of snowfall. When it starts snowing here it snows hard. We hope to go ride and film all the locations we have seen but even if we would not be able to do it there is one thing that is quaranteed. Powder is good in Niigata and there is lots of it!
